Mike’s biggest dream build is the house he comes home to. The house sat on a partial, tall crawlspace. Mike added steel beams, removed all of the pillars and dug out the foundation — while the family was still living in the home — then built an entire house underneath for his in-laws. He took out the old back deck and topped it off with a huge screened porch off the back.

Meet Mike

Owner · MHS Contracting, LLC

Mike got his start in 2007. He was working in real estate at a firm that specialized in foreclosures when a big set of projects came along: upfitting 15 to 20 condos at Brier Creek. The work needed doing, and Mike said he knew how to do it. From there he branched off into bigger projects, and he’s been building ever since. Today he does a lot of commercial work for companies, and he still takes on small punch lists for homes.

Real estate kept turning up septic problems, so Mike went and earned his septic license. He didn’t keep it up over the years, but the knowledge stuck, and it has helped plenty of real estate clients work through septic issues since.

Mike is a free spirit. Nothing holds him down or holds him back. He once took down a 40-foot tree by himself, cut it up, and built a lift system out of it. Then he used that system to drag another 40-foot tree across a creek, six times over, to build a bridge. By himself.

Mike doesn’t work alone: his full-time crew member is extremely capable and knowledgeable, and started his career in the framing industry.

No task is too small or problem too large. The more difficult, the more he enjoys the challenge.
